What a compact nursing license covers

The Nurse Licensure Compact can allow an eligible nurse whose primary residence is in a compact state to practice in other compact states under one multistate license. It does not replace scope-of-practice rules, employer credentialing, or requirements for advanced practice roles.
Before relying on a compact privilege, verify your primary state of residence, the destination state participation status, and the specific role. Use the official NLC resources and the relevant state board of nursing as the source of truth, especially if you are moving or changing residency.
